Seven for our Under 7s squad travelled up to Birmingham last Sunday to play against Camp Hill. Morgan, Harry O, Alex, Harry W, Finley, Hannah and Ben H all put in a fantastic performance in our muddiest conditions yet! Despite the best efforts from our players the first game went to Camp Hill with 6 tries to 4. The second game saw Hereford take a strong lead in the beginning which they fought hard to hold on to and their great play was rewarded with a win, final result being 2-5 to Hereford. Well done to Hannah who did a great job of being team captain this week and to all the other players who worked well as team and showed real determination despite being very wet and muddy!!!

In very wet conditions we had 7 players who braved the weather and came to play at Luctonians last Sunday. Morgan, Alfie, Harry O, Harry W, Hannah, Ned and Alex all put in a great effort despite the torrential rain which was coming down. At half time Luctonians were just in the lead with 3 tries to 2, with both our tries being scored by Harry O. Following a short break under cover to try and shelter from the rain we headed back out to finish the game. Harry W managed to get another two tries in the second half putting us into the lead. Unfortunately Lucs then came back with two more tries bringing the final result to 5-4 to Luctonians. Well done to all the players.

Match Report

Due to the heavy rain a last minute change of plans saw our Under 7s squad head over to Ledbury on Sunday morning for their second match of the season. The squad consisted of Morgan, Harry O, Alex, Harry W, Jacob, Ben H and Ned. All the boys put in a fantastic effort, particularly Jacob, Ben and Ned as this was their first game. In the first game some great tagging and support saw Harry O put us in the lead with 3 tries to 2 at half-time. However despite continued great playing and a try by Harry W, Ledbury were just able to make it a win. Final score 5-4 to Ledbury.

We played another 2 matches with lots of great rugby being played by all the players. Ned, Jacob, Harry O and Harry W were able to score some more tries for Hereford. With Morgan, Ben and Alex making a great contribution with their passing and tagging. Final score for the 2nd match was 9-4 to Ledbury and the 3rd match was 3-7 to Hereford. Our players did really well as we had a very small squad compared to Ledbury, but they kept going and were rewarded with a good win in the end.

This was the first match of the season for the under 7s, for many of whom this was their first ever game of rugby. Despite the rain we had a squad of nine players turn up, all full of enthusiasm to play against Bromyard. The first match started with Morgan, Harry O, Harry W, Alex, Hannah, Finley and Liam. Harry O put us in the lead straight away with a great run followed by a try, however Bromyard were quick to respond with an equalising try. Morgan was playing a great supporting role which resulted in him receiving a pass and going on to score Hereford’s 2nd try. Another great run by Finley and then one by Hannah saw 2 more tries for Hereford followed by a try for Bromyard. At half-time Hereford were in the lead 4 tries to 2.

In the second half Morgan and Finley came off and Alfie and Joe joined the players. Hereford got off to a great start again with Liam running straight through the Bromyard players to score a try. Some great tagging by the Hereford players was followed by a second try for Harry O. The game finished with a try to Bromyard and then a great run and try by Alex, with the final result being 7-3 to Hereford.

We played another 2 matches which saw lots more great running, tagging and scoring tries by all the Hereford players. The matches ended 5-2 and 4-2 both to Hereford. Let’s keep up the good work and hope we enjoy many more results like this!!!
