Sun 7 March 2010 v Malvern
Todays match: Malvern Rugby Club (Away)
2 matches- 30 mins each (15 mins each way)

A lovely sunny day in the heart of Malvern, bit cold but still ideal weather for rugby.Hereford win the toss and attack with the sun behind.Hereford and Malvern both up for this one, tackles flying in,looks like a proper game is on the cards. Both teams playing hard,a penalty to Hereford, tap by Callum B to Alex K who,at speed, batters his way through only to be bravely taken down by a malvern player, just before the line.Unfortunately, the malvern player needed medical attention and was unable to continue.Halftime and no score.
Second half.lots of ruck and maul play, one of these leads to Bryn G going over,Callum B converts.Hereford starting to impose now,a great move by the backs sees Isaac B threaten the line, only to pass the ball inside to Bryn G to score, this time converted by Isaac B.This is a great game to watch. An attack from Malvern sees a score and conversion, but Hereford regroup and hold on.
Final score Hereford 14 Malvern 7

The second match starts with both teams still battling away.Quick hands from Alex H,out to Elliott then to Callum B,who sprints forward, finally popping the ball to Reece P who dives in to score,Callum B converts.More continued pressure,Harry C tackling well, passes to Sam W who charges forward, picked up by Bryn G who passes to Alex K who breaks through to score,Isaac B slips as he kicks but still converts. Hereford lead by 14.Malvern crash through and score.14-7 game on.Dan P rips out the ball and passes to Bryn G who runs hard and then releases Alex K who powers through.Isaac B converts.21-7 at the half time break.
Hereford starting to dominate again,Alex H,Elliott and Jacob handling well now, releasing Callum B who releases Isaac B who side steps over for the try.Callum B kicks Hereford into a 28-7 lead.An amazing dodging run from Joel M gets near the line, where Isaac B takes it in,he scores and converts 35-14.After some substitutions and some lax tackling Malvern replied with two quick tries and conversions bringing the score back to 35-21.Very entertaining match. Some more subs,a scrum releases Jack B,who finds Alex K who again charges forward, supported by Josh B,who side steps one defender before diving over to score.Bryn G kicks clean. 42-21.Final minutes sees Harry C using his strength, before passing to Callum B to score.Alex K converts. The game ends with Harry C almost scoring in the corner.
Final score Hereford 49 Malvern 21

Well played both teams, this was a good, physical and thoroughly entertaining two games of rugby.ß
Sun 28 February 2010 v Luctonians
Todays visitors: local rivals Luctonians.Match to be 3x 15 minute thirds.

Another cold and bright morning, saw Hereford hoping to build on some strong performances of late.Recently we had seen some strong running and passing games, and were looking forward to some more of the same.Unfortunately, the first third was a scrappy affair with the ball being kicked, seemingly almost constantly, from one side to the other. Not what we had expected. The only bright moment was a try late on,which came from some rugby being played,James S had received a pass, ran through a couple of defenders, got held up,released to Ewan D who charged over the line to score.Isaac B converted.Hereford 7 Lucs 0
A new look team emerged after the break, new pack and several backs on the field.Again, unfortunately, the same kicking game continued, resulting in lots of defensive practice for Hereford.!! Unfortunately,Lucs did manage to break through and scored and converted. At the second break, scores tied 7-7.
Finally,Hereford started to pass and run, totally dominating the game now, some quality rugby on show.eventually after a mazey run from Isaac B,a neat off load to Callum B who ran in to score.Bryn G converted.HRFC 14 Lucs 7.From a penaltyCallum B passed to Alex K who charged forward at pace, before finally releasing to Callum B who once again ran it over the line.Bryn G converted.Hereford 21-7.Some excellent tackling from Harry and Joel stopped an attack. Then with about 5 minutes to go,several substitutions. Lucs started to get into the game a bit and scored another try and conversion.
Final score HRFC 21 Lucs 14. Away at Malvern next,so hoping we'll return to playing rugby for the whole match.
Sun 14 February 2010 v Bromyard H
This Valentines Day it was bright, sunny with a biting cold wind.Perfect for rugby at Wyeside.
Todays visitors were Bromyard. The game was to be 3 x 15 minuyte thirds.

As Bromyard didn't have enough players we "lent" them two of ours which did seem to "encourage" some strong tackling!!.Hereford got off to a slow start with several handling errors but as the game progressed it got better and better.Bromyard battled hard all game and made things difficult at times.Eventually after a surging run from Harry C a ruck developed close to the Bromyard line, which after good work by Joel M and Ewan D,allowed Alex K to rip the ball out and crash through for a try.Converted by Isaac B,Hereford led by 7 pts.
Second third started with several new faces on the pitch, but again Hereford showed great spirit and determination, and, after a great bit of passing, Reece P dived over in the corner for another try.Bryn G converted, hereford ahead by14pts.Adam H and Reece D showed lots of effort in the forwards, with Izzy and James S working well in the backs. Both Josh B and Harry C made sone crucial tackles when Bromyard looked to have broken through.
In the final third,Hereford pushed home their advantage,a try from Bryn G and another from Isaac B,converted by Alex K,gave Hereford a 26 - 0 win.In this final phase of play, some notable performances,Craig M playing his first game did very well.good performances from Elliott M,Alex H and Dan P ensured we didn't conceed.Best tackle of the Day must go to Ewan,on loan to Bromyard- final third, tackled Isaac B as he was clean through.!!!..Well done to Ewan and well done to the rest of you.
Sun 13 Dec 2009 v Worcester
On a glorious winters morning at Wyeside and surprisingly a good quality pitch considering the rain and frost, Hereford just could not compete with a small but very skilful Worcester squad.

Excuses could be made that Hereford had a large number of players that were rotated all the time, which weakened the team in each session, but this would be unfair on a well drilled and quality Worcester side

Whilst all the Hereford players tried their best and showed good skills at times they could not manage to score with Worcester winning 35 - 0
Sun 6 Dec 2009 v Camp Hill
Following not stop rain for days it looked like the day could be a wash out, however Camp Hill decided carry on and luckily the u11 match was on perhaps the least affected pitch. Saying that the conditions were bad and the pitch very short and narrow meaning fast, expansive rugby was never on the cards.

Both teams had small and inexperienced squads and this showed with the quality of rugby. Camp Hill dominated the rucks and mauls but Hereford made the most of their chances, had a stronger defence and faster backs.

There were two matches. Hereford won the first 14 - 7 and lost the second by a conversion 12 - 14
Sun 22 Nov 2009 v Luctonians
Following horrendous rain the night before the Lux pitches were water logged, but just playable.

Hereford fielded a large and strong team that always looked like beating a weakened Lux squad.

The game was split into 4 x 15 minute sessions and whilst rotating players and positions each session, Hereford won each one.

There were a number of outstanding performances, AK charged through for a couple of try`s, Callum B as always tackled hard and made several breaks and Joel, Ewan and Josh showed why they are always on the team sheet

Overall score 45 - 5
Sun 15 Nov 2009 v Ledbury
Whilst this was due to be a home match for Hereford the flooding at Wyeside ment the fixture had to be reversed, thanks to Ledbury for agreeing to this at short notice.

Maybe due to the bad weather or people thinking the match would be cancelled, only a small squad turned up with some of our more experienced players missing for what we knew would be a strong Ledbury side, which it proved to be.

The match was divided into 3 x 20 minute sessions with players being rotated throughout, whilst we competed all the time and made it hard for Ledbury to score their physical effort and determination beat some weak tackling with the end score being 35 - 5. New prop Sam showed what he can do in the tight and Harry produced some storming runs for a bid 2nd row
Sun 11 October 2009 v Bromyard
On sunday 11th October Hereford u11`s visited the county rivals Bromyard for the second game of the season. The return of Josh B and Tom K helped the side, extra tackling and rucking practice following last weeks experience against Stourbridge and strengthening the wing positions ensured that Bromyard were always struggling to break the line.

Special thanks to Alex H, Jacob P and Tom K all would spent some time playing from Bromyard as they ended up a player short, all 3 boys did their best to stop Hereford scoring (they did such a good job, i may have to drop them as a penalty)

The match never looked in doubt. A strong pack of Ewan, Joel and Josh with the new second row of AK and Dan P won most scrums and lineouts, in mauls and loose they looked good, they just need to remember to ruck!!!!!!! Rhys and Adam did a good job when they came on as replacement props and hooker and Scotty did tremendously in the 2nd row, being 5ft 6 helps

In the backs, there was lost of good running and passing from everyone - Rhys P, Bryn, Issac, Alex H, Tom K, Adie, Tom D, Jacob, Issie, DJ and Callum

There were numerous different trie scores and a number of conversion kickers. The end result being 48-14
Sun 4 October 2009 v Stourbridge
For our opening game of the season we welcomed Stourbridge to Wyeside. In glorious late summer sun the 18 boys and girls of Hereford battled hard against strong opposition. With a number of new faces this season, Harry and Rhys, new rules and positions to learn and a few "old heads" missing Hereford struggled to match the commitment and tackling of their North Midlands rivals, There was some determined runs by Bryn G, Isaac, Joel and Callum, good work in the mauls by AK and Ewan, but we couldn't break their line, eventually losing 35-7

Season 2008 -2009
U10s v Old Sils - Sunday, 8 March 2009
Whilst the morning started cool and sunny it soon became cold and wet, however this did not stop either team from playing some very attractive rugby.

The first match, as all were, was very tight, with excellent ball handling skills displayed by both sides. Alex K made some hard hitting runs through the middle and nearly got a try, Josh Bonn never stopped tackling and was always in the mauls stealing the ball and gaining yards, Callum B also battled hard to move us forward however it was Sils who scored two before Bryn Goodall replied for us, Final score was 2 - 1 to Sils

The next game gave all our new and less experienced players a chance. The new boys Addi, Harry, Adam and Tom D did really well, with the experienced heads of Issy, Jacob and Dan showing the way things should be done. Again a very tight game with us winning 2 - 1

We managed to squeeze in another short game with both sides throwing the ball around and pushing through the tackles. Everyone had a good game with Jacob and Josh shinning and the ever dependable Isacc doing what he does, however we couldn`t quite manage a win losing by a try at the final whistle, 2 - 1 to Sils

U10s v Bromyard - Sunday, 9 March 2008
The under 10's came out a fighting force this week against visiting team Bromyard.  The first match had tries scored by Rhys, Lewis, Ed and a fantastic hat-trick by Freddy.  The tackling and defense skills by the rest of team helped towards a 6-1 win.  Harry, Josh, Zak and Freddy all had crucial breaks.  The second match saw tries by Ben and another brilliant Hereford hat-trick by Harry.  This second match saw Bromyard fighting back after their first defeat and they came through to win 4-5.  This match saw amazing defense from Ryan, who really shon through.

This week really saw the whole team play some of the best tactical rugby we have seen for quite some time, it was tense and thrilling to watch.
U10s v Richmond - Saturday, 1 March 2008
Hereford Under 10 Squad took on a touring team from Richmond this fine sunny Saturday morning.  The team started out well and put up a good defense, however, the quick moving, fast passing squad from Richmond soon took over the match.  Despite amazing tackling by the Hereford boys, Richmond went on to win the first match 0-9.

Unfortunately, despite an amazing run and follow up try from Matthew, the second match held a similar score, the defeat being 1-8.

The matches were quite an eye opener for the Hereford Under 10 boys, and hopefully has instilled some added determination to see the kind of play we know they are all capable of.  Either way, it was a very enjoyable day all round.
U10s v Kidderminster - Sunday, 27 January 2008
On a  bright Sunday morning the Under 10 squad prepared for 2 matches against Kidderminster.  The first match was bravely fought but unfortunately lost 6-0.

During the second match the team seemed to take the first defeat on board and came out a fighting force.  The first try was scored in the opening minutes of the game.  Outstanding tackles and runs by ALL members of the team led to a 1-6 victory.  Tries were scored by  George, Max, Felix and Zak .  The team really came together and the support from the squad's defense contributed greatly to the overall result.  Well done lads - keep it up !!'
U10s v Malvern - Sunday, 25 November 2007
Once again we had a good turn out at Malvern on Sunday.  We were able to play 2 games.  The first game was nail-biting with Ed Mence scoring first for Hereford.  The team put up a great fight but conceded a try in the 2nd half leaving the final score at 1-1.

The second game was also full of action with Max scoring the first try of the match. Malvern came back with 3 tries in a row.  Max replied with another try closely followed by an almost full pitch run from Zak setting up a great try from Scott.  Unfortunately, Malvern hit back with 2 more tries leaving the final score at 5-3.

Two fantastic games and a great effort from all the players.
U10s v Newent - Sunday, 18 November 2007
On a very cold and wet Sunday morning the Under 10's once again were out in force, with a great team turn-out.  2 matches were played against a very strong Newent side.

Despite the awful weather conditions Hereford put up a great fight, but at certain times they seemed to have lost there, usually fantastic, attacking abilities.  Unfortunately, we lost both matches, 2-4 and 1-3.  A huge amount of praise however must go to all Under 10 players for the effort they displayed throughout the morning.  The team are clearly advancing in their abilities, as the show of tackling and teamwork displayed thoughout both matches was very credible.

Well done to the whole team !!
U10s v Ledbury - Sunday, 11 November 2007
On Sunday 11th of November Hereford under 10's played Ledbury.  Both teams respectfully observed two minutes silence before matches commenced. With both clubs having big squads we split into 2 squads for 2 games for each squad. On the top pitch, two hard fought matches were played with Hereford going down in both. Whilst loosing by two tries to one in the second a fine jinking run by Harry Harding resulted in a try. Hereford were also unlucky as Scott crossed the line only to lose the ball before grounding it. On the lower pitch, in the first game Hereford went 2 tries down in the first half but pulled back brilliantly in the second with tries from Ed Mence & Max Aldous Fountain only to concede a last minute try to lose. In the second match we drew the first half 3 tries all with Max scoring again & Freddie Cross going over the line twice. Unfortunately in the second half Hereford forgot to tackle & conceded four tries without reply so losing the match despite strong performances from Callum Shearer & Ben Millikin.
U10s Luctonians - Sunday, 14 October 2007
Hereford under 10's travelled away to local rivals Luctonians.  In dry running conditions two very competitive games were played, loosing the first by 6 tries to 4 and drawing the second 3 tries all.

In game one Jack Helme scored Hereford's first. Two runs from Matthew Jones resulted in tries as the visitors fought their way back into the game.  Hereford finished strongly as Scott Greenhill burst his way across the try line.  A strong run from Callum Gunn nearly led to a further try.  Special mention goes to Callum Shearer for good vision and passing

In game two the spoils of victory were shared thanks to tries from Freddie Cross, Hugo Jobst and a bustling run from Ali Milne saw him toching down. Good tackling from Hereford restricted Luctonians and the game ended in a draw
U10s v Silhillians - Sunday, 7 October 2007
Hereford under 10's travelled away to Sihillians. In good conditions they played some attractive rugby managing to overcome the home side by 4 tries to 3. Particular mention goes to Lewis and Max who both scored one try each and Hugo who scored the other two. A good team performance.
U10s Stourbridge - Sunday, 30 September 2007
Hereford Under 10's provided a full turn out for their first match of the season against Stourbridge.  A full squad meant that a total of 3 games were played and that all team members got a stint on the pitch.  The team to play first came out strong and upheld this throughout the match.  Tries were scored by Freddie, Hugo, Jack and Matthew.  Exceptional tackling by Harry and Ed helped the rest of the team to a 6-0 victory. The second match of the morning brought out some of the new members of the squad, the whole team came together well with outstanding tackling by new man Max. The final score was 0-6.  The 3rd and final match of the morning once again gave some of the new players their first game experience.  The players performed superbly with Matthew making some incredible tackles and runs.  The final score was 0-8.
