Dear Players and Parents

Welcome to the 2011–12 season

Although last season as a whole, the club didn't obtain much silverware, there were a few important highlights. Our Colts won the North Midlands Sunday League, losing in the playoff final to Mosley, who won the Saturday League, however they then beat them to win the North Midlands Cup. It was also good to see several Colts helping the first team at the end of the season to stay in National League 3.

Several junior teams had a great season, the u11's, 13's, 14's and 15's hardly lost a game and did well on their tours. The u15`s also supplied the majority of players that will form the backbone of the county under 16 team.

As always, we are trying to improve our coaching levels to give our junior boys and girls the highest level of coaching we can. To this end we will be employing more external coaches and senior club players to help with the older age groups and with that in mind we will be booking winter training at the Leisure Centre if Wyeside is flooded.

As a National League club with a large junior section, who do not pay our 1st team players or any committee members, the costs to keep the club running keep growing; therefore we will be running more fund raising events to help prevent subscriptions and match fees having to be increased, so please do support these events whenever you can.

It also takes a great number of selfless individuals to run a club of our size, volunteers are always needed, please offer to help whenever you can, as many hands make light work.

Off the pitch the big news is ..... We`ve got planning permission for the new club to be built at Hampton Bishop. Hurray!!!!!!! It will take approx 3 years to complete the design and build, so please bear with us until then, it will be worth it.

Let’s hope for a dry and frost free winter, lots of good rugby on the pitch and some silverware in the clubhouse.
