Welcome to the 2009 – 10 rugby season
at Hereford Rugby Club

Dear players and parents

Last season was a period of solid performances by all age groups; without the silverware of past years however, we can be proud that large numbers of players have played for the county and North Midlands this past year. Player numbers remain high and this season we have formed a Colts side, mainly from last seasons u17`s, who reached the Midlands Plate final of the national u17`s Cup; they will play mainly on Sunday lunchtimes.

All senior committee members recognise that for Hereford RFC and our players to be widely recognised across North Midlands and the whole of the RFU for our efforts on and off the field, we have to be “visible” at all times. To this end considerable time and effort is expended by a number of unpaid senior members of the main club committee who represent our club at North Midlands committee level. At junior level, several volunteer HRFC coaches and managers are heavily involved with coaching in schools, helping run school TAG festivals, the organisation and coaching at County and School of Rugby (SoR) etc. The results of this band of “heroes” efforts can be seen in the large number of Hereford players who are chosen at County, North Midlands, Midlands and national level, and indicate how well regarded Hereford RFC now is within the RFU.

With regard to club facilities, there have been a number of working parties over the summer sprucing up the place both internally and externally and you will see additional changing room space, by way of a portacabin. We are still looking at obtaining more land for more pitches and are progressing with the club relocation plans.

Our targets this and every year are to continue to improve coaching standards that will make training and playing more fun, and in turn help achieve greater success on the pitch. Even more coaches and assistants have passed their TAG, level 1 & 2 coaching qualifications in the past 6 months.
